First Photo Shoot

Daddy

So, I have heard that you will never love your spouse and much as you do when you see them as a parent and this is true in my case! Nate has been the best dad and it melts my heart every time I see him with Carter.  The first night we were home we went to bed and put Carter in his bassinet before we could even put our heads on our pillows he started fussing...Nate got up, picked him up went out on the recliner and held him.  They both slept until 3:30 when I had to get up to feed him.  I know this isn't the best way to start teaching Carter where he sleeps, but to me it was the sweetest thing I have ever seen.  Plus I got like 4 hours of much needed sleep!  I am so lucky to have the husband I do and Carter is lucky to have the dad he does!

Friends and Family

We are so blessed to have the friends and family that we do!  We had so much support through this whole process.

SO worth the wait...Carter Dean Brown

I checked into the hospital Sunday night and had Cytotec to soften my cervix, the Doctor started Pitocin the next morning about 6 am.  The Dr. came in about 1:00 to check me and I was dilated to a 2 and 80%.  He gave us a couple of options, we could break my water and try to make the labor more intense or we he would check me again at about 6:00 and if there was no change he would stop all medication, let me eat dinner and try again in the morning.  Nate and I decided we didn't want to try and force things so we would wait until 6:00.  A nurse came in about 2:00 to test my blood sugar and when I sat up in bed my water broke.  So..ready or not we were having the baby and hopefully soon.  The Dr. checked me again at 5:00 and I was dilated to a 9 and 100%, the only problem was the baby was still high.  He wanted to give me another hour to see if the baby would drop.

Waiting....it was a LONG day

So, the Dr. came back in about 6:00 and wanted to see what would happen if I tried to push, I pushed a couple of times and not much changed.  He asked me top push 2 more times and then things got hectic.  The baby's heart rate started to drop and the Dr. said we had no choice but to do a C-Section.  We had to do it right away because the baby was in distress.  I was pretty scared but Nate stayed calm.  All of the nurses and Dr. did such a great job.  I was wheeled into the ER at 6:30 and Carter was born at 6:37.  After the surgery we found out that the cord was wrapped around his neck and chest, so luckily we did the surgery and everything turned out the way it did.
