What a month...or 5 weeks I guess!

So, I really meant to post this last week but to say things have been crazy would be an understatement!  I am not really sure where all the time has gone, but this is what I can remember.  Nate has had strep throat and bronchitis since Carter was born.  I was diagnosed with Mastitis about 3 weeks ago and was the sickest and most miserable I have ever been in my life!  Then, last week I also got bronchitis. Luckily, I am feeling better now but I am not able to breast feed.  I can still pump and give Carter breast milk through a bottle which is better than nothing.  I was seen in the ER at first and then followed up with my dr.  I ended up having to get antibiotic shots every day for 7 days...crazy!  AND...after all that I thought things were ok until Carter started getting sick.  Luckily, he only has an ear infection in his right ear.  We are very lucky that he has been as healthy as he has after what his parents have been through.  We are so blessed to have the family and friends that we do.  Nate's Mom was here for a week when Carter was born, his cousin Emily came when she left and stayed for 5 days to help.  My family has been in and out helping and since I have been so sick my Mom has taken Carter numerous times so that I can sleep.  He really likes Grandmas house and sleeps the entire time he is there! Go figure.  I am glad we are all finally feeling better and hopefully we can stop giving Walgreens so much money! :-)

Carter is a great baby and is growing fast!  When he was at the doctor last week he weighed 9 pounds 8 ounces and was 22 1/4 inches long.  There is so much I love about him but here is my top 5 right now...

  1. He's mine.  I don't have to give him back....
  2. He grabs on to my shirt with both hands when I hold him on my chest. (If I can't breast feed him I will take this)
  3. He has the prettiest eyes and almost talks to me with them.
  4. He makes the cutest noises...especially after he sneezes.
  5. He brings peace to our home that I have never felt before and I hope never goes away.
I love this picture.  Maggie was sick when Carter came home so she had to wait a long time to hold him.
My friend Xan sent these frog booties, they are so cute!

Trying to decide if he is hungry or tired.
One month old...Kathy wanted a picture in his diaper, his face is so funny in this pic

Grandpa came over to visit, but held the dogs instead of Carter
First bath

Chillin with dad, Nate says he has smiled at him twice...I don't believe it. :-)
Emily and Carter

Thanks for coming all the way from Oregon to help us Emily! We love you!!!

I had really good intentions of taking pictures of Carter with all of his visitors but that hasn't happened.  We have had so many people mail us packages, and bring us dinner, or just stop by to visit.  We are SO SO blessed to have the friends and family that we do.  I don't think I would have made it through this last month without all of them.

  3. Mastitist is the worst! I am so sorry, hang in there. I hope you all get feeling better soon. So glad your mom is close. You don't realize how much your parents love you till you have kids of your own. My husband comes down with bronchitis every single time we have a newborn he is 4 for 4 with it. I think he does it so he doesn't have to get up at night
